Fun Runs

The Saline County Striders fun runs at the Hurricane Lake Marina in Benton are continuing. The "official" runs are on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 5:30am. We have unofficial fun runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday also at 5:30am. There are water and bathrooms (with showers) available along with plenty of parking!

Bring your work clothes. You can shower, change clothes, and be off to work. The runs are on neighborhood roads (mostly with bike lanes), from one to 7 miles and at different paces - all within the Hurricane Lake community! A 4-mile out-and-back seems to be the most popular choice, but you can turn around any time to shorten the distance, or you can add on to the distance. Good roads and good lighting make for a safe running environment.

This is open to all interested walkers and runners, club members or not. The only requirements are a commitment to a zero trash policy and to be respectful of the community. Leave the area as clean or cleaner than you found it.

For those not familiar with it, the Hurricane Lake community is located off Hwy. 5 about 6/10 mile east of Alcoa Road.  Turn in on Waterfall Drive, go 3/10 mile and turn right at the T intersection.  The marina is just up the street from there.

Allan is also hosting some Sunday morning fun runs from his house in Hurricane Lake Estates at 7:30am. Distances range from 5 to 13 miles. Best to check with Allan if you have not seen a reminder e-mail to be sure the run is on. Allan Woiwood or 816-210-6627.

If you have any questions please Contact Allan Woiwood or Pete Ireland.
