About the Saline County Striders

The Striders have been presenting three competitive road races per year, including the Arkansas Marathon and Arkansas 20K, and the Arkansas Runner 2 Mile Race. With the Arkansas Marathon moving to Booneville this year, we are replacing this race with a 5K race to be held June 19, 2010, at Hurricane Lake Estates Marina. This will be a fund raiser for the Saline County Humane Society. Further details will be provided in the near future.

This year will mark the 12^th edition of the Arkansas Runner 2 Mile Race which will be held on July 24, 2010.  The 29^th annual Arkansas 20Kwill be held September 18, 2010.

Turnout for the 2009 20K was the highest since 2000. We appreciate all those who came out for the races, both the runners and the volunteers. 

MEMBERSHIP:  The membership fee is $15 per year (12 months from the date of receipt) and includes all family members. Membership includes the bi-monthly Arkansas Runner newsletter. We welcome runners and walkers of all abilities. (Membership form)

MEETINGS:  The Striders normally meet the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Farm Bureau office, 119 Broadway, Bryant. Meeting changes are noted on the Strider Calendar in the Arkansas Runner. Members are notified by e-mail and/or post card. Other activities will be posted on the Club Activities Calendar web page and as necessary members will be notified by e-mail or other methods.

During recent years the club has been able, thanks to corporate sponsorships Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation and Regions Bank, to provide donations to a variety of community projects and organizations in Saline County, including the Saline County Boys and Girls Club, Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA), the Saline County Library, the Sevier Street Garden Project, the Benton High School ROTC Program, the Saline County Humane Society animal shelter, the Single Parent Scholarship Program, and the Bryant Barracudas swim team.
